Rapid tools to screen water samples for elevated microcystin.
Associate Professor Ruth Richardson of Cornell’s School of Civil and Environmental Engineering will share results from two types of rapid screening approaches that were field-tested this summer on Cayuga and Canandaigua Lakes in collaboration with volunteer monitoring groups. Comparison of the kits’ results with microcystin toxin levels suggest both methods hold promise for rapid bloom toxin level screening.
