The objective is to improve riparian habitat and reduce sediment
runoff into the silt pond. Ecologic,
LLC is working with the City of Ithaca to develop a management
plan for the silt removal operation. Planned activities include:
road improvements, stormwater controls, and re-vegetation. The plan
is expected to be finalized in April 2004 with construction undertaken
during the summer of 2004. The project is made possible by NYS Department
of State and US Department of Agriculture funds.
Burns Road to German Cross
Road Stabilization Project will decrease silt loading to
the City of Ithaca's silt pond by using natural channel design techniques
to stabilize the creek. There are 12 monitoring cross sections within
this reach.
