Brian J. Boerman

Brian Boerman

Brian Boerman is a certified Agricultural and Environmental Management Planner and a Certified Crop Advisor working with Agricultural Consulting Services. He grew up in Wayne County New York and attended college at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. He has worked in the fields of environmental biology and agriculture for 9 years.

Brian moved into the Cayuga Lake watershed in 1999 when he started with Agricultural Consulting Services as a field technician gathering soil data and doing Integrated Pest Management in vegetable and row crops. Since then, he moved closer to Ithaca, got married, had a baby and became a lead consultant and nutrient management planner with his consulting firm.

Prior to that Brian worked with threatened and endangered species in Oregon and Washington States and also worked with the U.S. Forest Service as a Forest Biologist, responsible for timber management and wildlife habitat assessment. As part of this work he identified watersheds and installed practices to enhance fish populations in degrading habitats.

Brian noted, “I am interested in working with the Network because I believe that I can lend a knowledge base from personal experiences and contacts throughout the Cayuga Lake Watershed. My job calls for me to develop and help implement a plan for forestry and agriculture to operate profitably within the guidelines of The Clean Water Act. Charged with this duty I feel responsible to work with all parties, from throughout the watershed to achieve the goals of environmental sustainability and the economic success of the businesses operating in the watershed. To help achieve these goals I feel I would be most effective dealing with the challenges facing the Cayuga Lake Watershed, and I believe this Network is one of the best places to spend time working toward that
goal.”
