9th Annual Lakefest and Annual Meeting

The Cayuga Lake Watershed Network will hold its 9th Annual Lakefest and Annual Meeting at at Frontenac Park, Union Springs NY on Saturday August 26. A sumptuous picnic lunch will be supplied again this year, and we will be entertained during lunch by Second Wind, a folk group starring three women, with help from a male bass player. The members are from small towns in Ontario, Canada and the group specializes in a mellow sound. Three of its members derive from Classic Folk, the group which has entertained us the past 3 years at Lakefest. Wells College has once again made a substantial donation to Lakefest for the lunch, and Wegmans has also contributed to lunch for the 2nd year.

Following lunch, there will be many activities, including a reading hour with Jack, a "read dog", and a nature adventure!

Winner of the 4th annual David Morehouse Award for service to the Watershed will be announced and awards to Lake Friendly Farms will be made at 2:00pm.

At 2:15pm, kids of all ages will be entertained by the ever-popular puppeteer Tom Knight, back for the 7th straight year. Ice Cream Treats will be served as a snack by Cayuga County Dairy Princess at approximately 3:00pm.

As always, there will time to explore exhibits such as a hydrology demo, and critters, as well as posters by local organizations. Throughout the entire afternoon, there will be ample opportunity for everyone to learn about important issues for the Watershed from local organizations - on display from noon till 4:00pm. Last year's Lakefest provided hand-on educational activities relating to the Watershed by several of those organizations.

A swimming beach is nearby at Frontenac Park - make a day of it for a fun-filled, informative, family-oriented afternoon.

From 3:20pm till 3:45pm, the Watershed Network will hold its annual meeting.

Frontenac park is located in Union Springs. Map attached. Signs for Lakefest will guide you to the park. Look for the balloons!
