Cayuga Lake Watershed Network
Doc. #2008-
Outreach Committee Telecon
May 23, 2008
Present: Roxy Johnston, Judy Morehouse, Judy Pipher
(Julie Patterson by e-mail)
Agenda: Lakefest Planning. Minutes from last meetings
on Lakefest are posted on the www. Sharon reported that we had received
a check from Goulds.
Judy M
1. As she said via e-mail, the Canoga FD reneged on tables and chairs
because they had forgotten that they were sponsoring a BBQ the same
day, so the Fayette FD is willing. They will provide 12 tables and
30 chairs. Judy will ascertain how the donation would change if
they transported these along with the 20x40 tent we have reserved
from them (Joe Charelli).
2. Both P&C (Waterloo) and Wegmans (Auburn) have donated gift
certificates - $20 and $25. Wegman’s Geneva is considered
a “duplicate” since close by.
3. Pam Bryan (who is not with SCP) is on for 30 min at 1:30 –
2pm. She is consulting her colleagues for a name for the group and
will let us know.
4. Judy M will take over for Judy P with manager Carl at Glenwood
Farms (see below), and will also approach the Walmart SuperStore
grocery in Auburn in her stead (since Judy P gone till June 8).
Judy P
1. She stopped in at Glenwood Farms today - having already discussed
the watershed and our request with manager Carl before she went
to England, but missed him. One of the senior women at the store
is giving him the message that she called today. Judy M is taking
over since Judy P gone till the 8th of June.
2. Sally Eller declined to offer the READ dog this year –
feels the venue doesn’t work well.
3. Has not yet contacted display folks re: bringing your own tables
and chairs.
4. Sent out letters requesting donations to Seneca County (Tourism
Director), Walmarts (Waterloo) – since they are advertising
“going green”, and Bass Pro. Have not yet followed up
in person.
5. Sent request to Life in the Finger Lakes to advertise Lakefest
– they did in April issue.
Roxy
1. Has approached “Acorn” and Fred Young about displays
for Lakefest. (Roxy please expand/correct and send details to me
to put on list).
2. Will clinch the deal on store donations by approaching a few
before next telecom.
3. Kari Richards can provide games for kids – we hope she
will be available next telecom (Admissions isn’t a real busy
time in June).
4. Hasn’t heard back yet from various groups she contacted
on donations – busy time for farmers.
Julie
1. We need to do a count on what paper/plastic the Network has –
Julie had agreed to do that once the stuff is stored at her farm
(she will arrange appointment with Sharon to do so)..
2. Julie has to follow up on Tops (Auburn) and Big M (Union Springs).
Next telecon Friday June 13 at 2pm
