Love Your Lake Campaign
Kevin will provide information on the Love Your Lake Campaign and opportunities for partnering with the Watershed Network to Cayuga Wine Trail (CWT) Board’s at their Sept. Board meeting. Benefit to CWT – businesses look like they are part of the stewardship movement rather than a threat.

Cayuga Lake Scenic Byways is interested in learning more. Possible ways they could be involved include giving us exposure on website, placing and insert Love Your Lake information in their brochures, and using the joint project on interpreting water resources as a part of the Love Your Lake campaign. We might want to plan a series of public programs related to the brochure we are creating and/or the products we will be producing to showcase the water features on or near the science byway.

Finger Lake magazine – good to approach about a possible article. Might be more willing to pick up LYL if all 3 organizations are involved.

Ramp up in the spring. Focus on the summer when people are out and about and wind down in the fall after a big splash at Lakefest.

Look for Calendar dates of some significant
--take a date and put spin on such as native plants around the 4th of July. Visit the American lotus in Carr’s cover area

Keith got some suggestions from someone more knowledgeable in this area
Three goals:
1. Commemorate the 10th anniversary
2. Multifunctional outreach, fundraising and membership
3. Education

Slogan needs to:
1. be brief and catchy like a bumper sticker.
2. does that message support all 3 organizations
3. does the message support all 3 goals

I love NY and Ithaca is Gorges are 2 examples of things that have worked well

Love Your Lake is good for selling t-shirts but it is not educational. A main theme might have sub-themes. For example, Know Your Lake – could be a subset under the main Love Your Lake campaign.

Need to create a tight paragraph saying what the goals are, the costs and then a description. Use to organize ourselves, seek funds. This should happen in advance of going to CWT and Cayuga Lake Scenic Byway. For internal purposes, we also need to assign who will do what.

Rather than wait until our Oct meeting to continue planning, we should see what can be accomplished via email.
