June 16, 2008
Present: Brian Boerman, Roxy Johnston, Ruth Richardson,
John Mawdsley, Sharon Anderson, Chuck Kroll, Keith Tidball
1. Watershed Model Discussion – Sharon and
all
- Sharon discusses sample of findings from Doug’s model.
Point sources are the largest contributor of Phosphorus to the
watershed from sewer, municipal waste. Disturbed land and impervious
are areas have a significant impact, which reinforces the importance
of our work with stormwater ruoff. Noted that the CLWN has exclusive
access to information provided from the model and should be used
to promote an agenda. There is still some reluctance on the part
of the committee to make all model findings public at this point.
1. learn more about wastewater treatment operations, especially
at North end of the watershed and inputs to the Canal.
2. Continue stormwater work with additional emphasis on impervious
surfaces and land disturbance.
3. Refer to findings at spring and fall conferences and other watershed
events– use for advocacy and implications.
4. Calibrate/ground truth model with monitoring data. Talk with
Todd Walter about potential for modeling work (his model) to continue.
2. Lake Friendly Farm Program – Keith and
all
- Program is moving along in committee
- Water quality violations by LFF participants should be forwarded
to the committee for discussion. Ronda Fessenden is chair.
3. Report Card for Cayuga Lake
- John Mawdsley seeking volunteers to work with students and
have an initial meeting in June.
- Volunteers include Sharon, John, Keith, Rich Stedman and Ruth.
Proposed Next meeting: 7/21 - 1 PM Conference
