CAYUGA LAKE WATERSHED NETWORK
Steward's Report
August 21, 2009
Wells College, Aurora NY
We have had a very busy month here at the Network offices and elsewhere,
and our high level of activity continues. While my focus increasingly
has to move toward grant proposals, I, Rachel and Jade have been
largely immersed in publicity and outreach for the Sunset on Cayuga
event set for September 26.
We have now sent out ten tickets and flyers to each Board member
who had not previously received this minimum number that we are
asking each of you to sell. If ten Board members sell ten tickets
each, we will reach our 100-guest minimum for the Lakewatch Inn.
We also need raffle items and high-end silent auction items.
So far, following the good efforts of about three Board members,
all the goodies coming in have been due to the efforts of Rachel
and Jade.
If any of our committee members would like me to send them a number
of tickets, or Board members need MORE tickets, please let us know.
And please suggest to us the names and addresses of people we should
contact for donations and ticket sales. Remember – people
can pay for tickets online via PayPal or credit card on our website.
We also request that you work with friends and colleagues to sponsor
a Small ($500) or Large ($750) Mouth Bass table for eight, which
you can name in honor of a group, person or cause of your choice.
Tese special tables will receive fancy treats and centerpieces.
I am writing to a potential sponsor about the Emerging Watershed
Leaders table, so that our young staff (and perhaps a fall intern
or two) may attend with guests.
Also, an anonymous donor has contributed the cost of eight tickets
so that our Lake Friendly Farm awardees and Morehouse Award winner
with guests may attend free of charge.
So far, Jade and Rachel have sent letters to 280 businesses and
individuals; we have notified everyone on our listserv (thank you
Judy) and will do that again soon after adding more email addresses;
and will be sending out a postcard mailing to our members early
next week. We will also be doing some modest newspaper advertising
over the next month. We have been plastering public events with
flyers, sent out press releases to area papers and radio, and had
a large notice in our Network News that arrived at your homes and
those of 420 others very recently. We will be doing presentations
at several of the retirement communities in the next two to three
weeks.
